Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) Apprentice Trainee Recruitment 2026-27

Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a Mini Ratna Company and a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has announced recruitment for 1607 Apprentice Trainee positions. This is a great opportunity for eligible Graduate, Diploma, ITI, and Paramedical candidates from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh to undergo one year of apprenticeship training.

    • Graduate Apprentice: Rs. 12,300/-

    • Paramedical Diploma: Rs. 12,700/-
  • Training Duration: One Year (as per Apprentice Act, 1961)

4. Eligibility Criteria (as on 01/06/2026)

  • Nationality: Indian Nationals only.
  • Educational Qualification: Degree/Diploma/ITI/Paramedical in relevant disciplines from an AICTE/BTE/UGC/SCVT/NCVT recognized Institute. Qualifications must be Full-time Regular courses.
  • Institute Location: Qualification must be from an institute functional and operational in Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh.
  • Qualification Passing Date: Candidate should not have passed their qualifying degree/diploma/ITI prior to June 2022.
  • Prior Apprenticeship / Experience: Candidates who have undergone Apprenticeship earlier, are currently pursuing Apprenticeship Training, or have 1 year or more of job experience are ineligible.
  • Higher Qualification: Candidates possessing higher qualifications over and above the prescribed qualification for the applied discipline are not eligible.
  • OBC Status: Only OBC Non-Creamy Layer candidates are eligible for reservation benefits.
  • PwBD Eligibility: PwBD candidates must submit a valid disability certificate.

5. Age Limit (as on 01/06/2026)

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 26 years

Age Relaxation:

  • SC / ST: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
  • PwBD (General/UR): 10 years
  • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
  • PwBD (OBC Non-Creamy Layer): 13 years

6. Application Fee

  • All Categories: NIL (No application fee is mentioned in the official notification. Candidates apply through NATS/NAPS government portals.)

7. Selection Process

  1. Merit List Preparation: Based on marks scored in the qualifying examination (Graduation/Diploma/Matriculation + ITI).
  2. Document Scrutiny: Shortlisted candidates will be called for verification of original certificates.
  3. Medical Examination: Final offer is subject to clearing a medical test as per Mines Rules 1955. A fitness certificate from a Government Hospital is required.

No written examination will be conducted by NCL for this recruitment.


8. Application Process

Eligible candidates must apply online only. The application process involves two main steps:

  1. Registration on Portal:
    • For Graduate & Diploma Apprentice candidates: First enrol on the NATS portal.
    • For Trade (ITI) Apprentice candidates: First enrol on the NAPS portal.
    • A registration number (Enrolment ID) will be generated.
  2. Applying for NCL Positions: After successful registration and obtaining the Enrolment ID, candidates must then apply for the NCL Apprentice positions through the respective portal.

Documents/Details required at the time of Online Application:

  • Valid NATS/NAPS Enrolment ID.
  • Scanned colour photograph and scanned signature.
  • Date of Birth as per Matriculation certificate.
  • Academic details (total marks scored and maximum marks in qualifying examination).
  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) in prescribed format, if applicable.
  • PwBD disability certificate, if applicable.
  • Address for correspondence and permanent address.

Candidates must save and preserve a hard copy as well as soft copy of the finally submitted online application for future reference. No paper-based or postal applications will be accepted.

9. Important Instructions

  • Online applications are open from 01-06-2026 to 15-06-2026.
  • A candidate may apply for any one notified position only; multiple applications will lead to disqualification.
  • Information pertaining to Date of Birth, Caste Category, and Qualification once entered shall be considered final.
  • Stipend for Graduate and Diploma Apprentices is inclusive of Government of India share; Trade Apprentice stipend will be paid directly by NCL.
  • Stipend will be paid directly into the AADHAAR-linked bank account.
  • Apprenticeship Training is purely temporary and statutory in nature; it does not confer any right or claim for regular employment in NCL.
  • Apprentices are eligible for 11 days Casual Leave and 15 days Medical Leave per year of training.
  • No accommodation, fooding/lodging, or transport will be provided during the training period.
  • No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in document scrutiny or post-scrutiny processes.
  • Any dispute will be subject to courts/tribunals of Singrauli, MP only.
